But some things are not so different from today… People watch the news on television and go to cafés. People have computers and use e-mail. And it is not a good future for everybody – there are still many hungry and poor people in America … and all over the world. And there is killing, too. Computerhead wants to change things and make a better future for everybody. But how do you help people and make them happy. There are good ways and bad ways. LAST CHANCE ‘Go away and find some news,’ says Mr Frank to Mike. ‘This is your last chance.’ Mike is a good cameraman but his boss at SFX news, Mr Frank, doesn’t think so. Mike has a nice life and he needs his job. What can he do? In Hawaii a volcano is erupting – a good chance for a good story. Mike goes there to film the story, but it is dangerous on the volcano and he learns that some things are more important than his job, or his camera. GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE Kenny is going across America by bus to San Francisco. It is a long way, so he stops sometimes and stays the night in a motel. One evening he stays in a motel in a little town in California – not far from Los Angeles. When he comes down from his room for something to eat, he sees a girl – a girl on a motorcycle, with long blond hair. He thinks he knows her – is she famous? Then, the next morning, he sees the news about a supermarket robbery in Los Angeles. DRIVE INTO DANGER Mark Miles has many trucks. They drive all over Europe taking diʃerent things to diʃerent places. But today, Mark and his son Andy are having a bad morning. One of their drivers, Gary Slater, has a bad arm and cannot drive. And there are important things to do – some tables must go from England to France, and some wine must come from France to England. But Kim Parker can help – she can drive a truck. Gary says, ‘At about one o’clock, you need to stop for 15 minutes at this truck stophere.’ He puts an X on the map – he is beingvery helpful.
